What can you post?
You may not post violent, nude, partially nude, discriminatory, unlawful, infringing, hateful, pornographic or sexually suggestive photos or other content via the Service.
Comment: “partially nude” is a loose concept in Instagram. Try to avoid pictures even suspected of containing nude.
Practice: Usually you get a warning first, but there were bans without any argument.
The Instagram name and logo are trademarks of Instagram, and may not be copied, imitated or used, in whole or in part, without the prior written permission of Instagram.
Comment: Instagram bans for using the logo without permission.
Practice: we have never faced such cases.
Other people on your photos or other people’s photos in your account.
This is regarding posting other people’s photos or images found in internet.
If you repeatedly infringe other people’s intellectual property rights, we will disable your account when appropriate.
Comment: this is the reason of 99% of bans.
Practice: long time ago, when it was possible to apply to Instagram support, all bans were explained by this rule.
Photos of documents
You must not post private or confidential information via the Service, including, without limitation, your or any other person's credit card information, social security or alternate national identity numbers, non-public phone numbers or non-public email addresses.
Comment: thus, posting any of these data may lead to ban.
Practice: we’ve faced such cases, but not often.
You must not create or submit unwanted email, comments, likes or other forms of commercial or harassing communications (a/k/a "spam") to any Instagram users.
Comment: if your likes and comments are considered as unwanted or commercial, your account will be banned. It regards repeating comments, using the account for self-advertising, comments containing commercial spam, such as promo-codes or URL-addresses. This is the sample list of what Instagram considers as spam. Pay attention to “repeating comments”.
Practice: repeated comments lead to a very fast ban, but we’ve never heard about banning for likes.
Creating new accounts.
You must not create accounts with the Service through unauthorized means, including but not limited to, by using an automated device, script, bot, spider, crawler or scraper.
Comment: Accounts registered by any other means except smartphone are banned.
Practice: Indeed this is a very frequent reason of ban.
